    Beach scents

The one juvenile must have something that smelled really good! He rolled and rubbed to get as much of that scent on him as he could - just like my dogs have done.

    Up close and personal....

It isn't as close as it appears, but this young mom with her spring cubs did walk very close to this group of photographers. Notice they are all on the other side of the cart!

    Young sow with spring cubs.

The ears on this sow appear much larger than the older sow's because her jaw hasn't grown nearly as much as it will. Her jaw will continue to grow and give her that full rounded look.

    Buried treasure for young bears?

Third year cubs. These two were kicked out by their mom this spring and are totally on their own. This will be the most difficult year for them, as they are lowest in the "pecking order" in the meadows and to catch salmon. If they survive this summer, they stand a good chance to survive to 10, 20 or even 30 years.
